The Illinois High School Association has sent a return to the sports schedule, which includes fall drills and competitions, but the fall sports will not be postponed. Yesterday, a special meeting was held in which it was unanimously decided to cancel all autumn sports events for the 2015 / 16 school year.
The IHSA board issued a statement saying all of its winter sports activities will be suspended to uphold recent mitigation by Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker. In response to the request by the State of Illinois and the Illinois Department of Education (IDEA) for a temporary suspension of all sporting activities, IhSA Executive Director Craig Anderson has sent a letter to Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan asking for her assistance in regaining control of IhsSA's sporting activities.
Brian Barnhart is the play-by-play voice of Fighting Illinois and said he was not surprised by Whitman's decision. Coach Scheer has been the head coach of a middle school team for the past four years and has helped develop several high school football programs, most recently at Oak Ridge High School in Tennessee. As high school sports in Illinois have been suspended due to the coronavirus outbreak, the Player Spotlight features will continue to be broadcast live on the team's website, Facebook page and Twitter account. The Rams start their season on Friday, September 2, at 7 p.m. with a home game against the Cumberland Pirates at Memorial Stadium. The schedule calls for both teams to start home games on Saturday, October 1, against St. John's and Sunday, November 3, at noon.
Sports that have been canceled include football, basketball, baseball, football, volleyball, athletics, lacrosse and athletics. The change will abolish all sports that require physical contact, except football and basketball.
IHSA Executive Director Craig Anderson issued the following statement: "We have suspended all of our athletic activities for what we hope will be a short break so that we can resume high school sports as soon as possible. Given the increasing number of COVID 19 cases, we support the governor's mitigation and believe it is imperative that everyone in the state do their part to ensure that these measures are implemented.

Coach Bielema said the Illinois football program will be built to be successful in the long run. He is a member of the United States Men's and women's national team, helps with coaching Junior Olympic Softball Coaching, coaching the Junior Under-18s and U20 national teams and traveling with the team on trips.
Coach Nolte has also been a referee for numerous softball organizations and a licensed IHSA referee for three years. In his five years as coach of the Midland Magic, 29 players have played in the division. I NJCAA softballs. He was a member of the first Laker softball team to reach the NJ CCCAA Division In addition to his time as assistant coach, he also coached the US junior Olympic team and the U20 national team.
His daughter Allyson Nolte-Scheer played at Lake Land College in Mattoon and went on to play for the U.S. Under-20 national team and the U.S. Junior Olympic team. She played for her father as an assistant coach for two years and has coached Paulson for three years, most recently as head coach of the Midland Magic's softball team in NJCAA Division I. He also served as an assistant for four years after graduating from Lake Land College, a two-year college.
He played baseball for Illinois for three years and was one of the best sluggers in the Big Ten during his junior and senior seasons. Hudson was named the all-time leader of the U.S. junior Olympic team in home runs and batting average in 2005 and the team's most valuable player in 2005.
