The Mattoon Area Community Foundation recently announced that applications have been submitted for the Lebovitz - Lively Arts Scholarship Fund. This year, Mattoons High School graduates majoring in visual and performing arts were awarded a total of $10,000 by the L.A.L.I.C.E. Foundation and $2,500 by MHS graduates majoring in visual or performing arts. In total, $12,000 will be awarded this year to a group of M HS graduates, each of whom has studied Visual and Performing Arts and Arts in Humanities and Social Sciences at the University of Illinois at Urbana - Champaign (UIC). The Bovitzer -Lively arts Scholarship is awarded with a maximum scholarship of $1,200 for each school year of the 2016-17 school year.
The Lebovitz - Lively Arts Scholarship Fund has awarded a total of $4,000 this year to a group of MHS graduates with a focus on visual and performing arts and $2,500 from the L.A.L.I.C.E. Foundation. The team plans to use the grant to acquire a full-time assistant professor of art at UIC and a deputy director of the Mattoon Art Museum. In total, $22,000 has been awarded to the Art Institute of Chicago and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign over the past two years.
The Mattoon Art Museum and the University of Illinois at Urbana - Champaign will offer consultations, followed by a visit to the Art Institute of Chicago and UIC, and a meeting with the Executive Director of the L.A.L.I.C.E. Foundation, Amit Lively, who will offer consultations.
The municipality also has the Silver Star roller skating rink, which consists of a roller skating rink, a skate park and a bowling alley. Ten miles east are the Mattoon Art Museum and the University of Illinois at Urbana - Champaign, both within walking distance of the Art Institute of Chicago and UIC. According to the museum's website, artists from Effingham and Central Illinois have exhibited 256 artworks and photographs at the Mattoon Art Museum in the past five years. During the season, residents can enjoy a variety of entertainment events, such as a fun theater festival, concerts, art exhibitions and other activities, as well as a wide range of events for children.
The Ted Vintage Art Team restored this historic Mattoon map and removed wrinkles, cracks, stains and discoloration. The level of detail in this print is incredible and well-known landmarks such as the Illinois State Capitol and the State House are easily recognizable. The best piece in the show went to "The Tree," by John C. Smith, a local artist with a passion for trees and trees.

Students and their families were able to talk to mystery writer Blue Balliett via Skype and launch an arts skills project. This photo was used by students as part of an interactive mummification activity at the University of Chicago Oriental Institute. It is a test of Italian Renaissance art, which a group of students from the Illinois State College of Art and Design in Chicago took.
